Day one

I’ve got the bug. It’s bad. I have a compulsion to brew. I’m a big fan of beer. Recently, I was having some trouble with my kegerator system and needed to replace my c02 regulator. I found myself in a local homebrew shop for the part I needed. The owner of the shop, who turned out to be incredibly helpful, just started chatting to me about beer. There I was, immersed in a shop filled with a myriad of beer and wine making equipment, and I was fascinated. I returned home and thought to myself, “I’d love to try and brew.” At that moment, I remembered I had received a “Mr. Beer” kit as a Christmas present and decided to try it out. Well, I’m currently drinking the “West Coast pale ale” that came with the kit, and it’s not bad at all.

But I know it could be better.

Since that day at the shop, I have visited every beer website & homebrew forum I could find. I’ve read & studied and learned about mashing equipment and conical fermenters and flowered hops and…well, lets just say today I’m ready. Mr. Beer was my pre-season, and today, the regular season starts. I just returned home from that local homebrew supply store with a bunch of new equipment, some cleared space to store the fermenters, and a burning need to create some beer.
